Quality Matters at Capella University

2008 Aug 13 Posted by Charles

I was pleased to learn last week that our public safety program received program level approval from Quality Matters. Adopting the Quality Matters program is one of the ways in which the Public Safety program at Capella University is leading the definition of excellence and quality in online education for the public safety professions. Military, law enforcement, fire, emergency management, homeland security, corrections, 9-1-1 and security management organizations are often interested in supporting their employees’ educational and professional growth and they want to ensure that their limited tuition assistance resources are used appropriately and within a quality program. Our Quality Matters recognition, at the program level, is the first of its kind in the United States and helps demonstrate Capella University’s commitment to leadership in online public safety education. Our online public safety degree programs, from BS to PhD, demonstrate quality in our curriculum design, cutting-edge courses, online platform, and distinguished faculty team, and now this Quality Matters recognition further validates our efforts across a standardized rubric that is being adopted across the country by a growing number of institutions. As a retired public safety professional, I know that quality does matter – both within the workplace and within the classroom setting. I am extremely proud to be part of the paradigm shift that is happening as online education becomes the new tradition for higher education, especially as it enables working adults the ability to move themselves and their communities forward as we continue to provide protection and service to our communities.
